Chrysler Financial - Unethical Collection Practices
|
Apr 29, 2008 Chrysler Financial complaint |
They call repeatedly and leave rude/unkind voice messages. Even after i expain when I can make a payment, this continues. They have called my sister half way accross the country. They called my neighbors. They report negative info on my credit that is not acurate. They yell at me on the phone and constantly threaten to reposses my vehicle. The automated dialing system even calls me when no payment is due. This has been going on all winter. Things are tough with the high oil prices and energy. I have been running behind with chrysler rather then let my family freeze. But I always call and let them know whats going on. They have decided to harrass me, leave nasty voice messages and treat me like a piece of trash. Please let me know of any class action lawsuits that I can join.

I'll be happy to join in on a lawsuit as well.
We have gone through a similar experience. What's been posted above is not true. They don't wait 30 days or more before they contact relatives. We were one month behind and they started calling a neighbor and a relative. When I speak directly to a rep, that same rep will call back the next day and say I haven't returned calls.
I've been through *** with their customer service and their managers (the rudest, most dishonest people I have dealt with), and I'll be happy to join in on any action taken against them.

We are having the same harassment calls. Including refusing of payments. We are only 41 days past due. Payment for 30 days would bring us to 11 days past due. The payment was refused and told only will be accepted if 2 months are paid in full. WE 100% Like to pay our bills on time and have with this loan for four years. Until the gas prices and slow down of the economy which includes one of us being laid off of work... I don't understand how a payment can be refused and is this ethical??? We were also told that if we don't make both payments today they are going to send a default payment & reposses the vehicle... My problem is we want to pay for it but they won't let us??? HELP!!!

Relatives and neighbors are not contacted unless you are 2 payments behind and the bureau will only be notified if you are 30 days past due. No company would be in business if they allowed customers to pay when they feel like it, thats why there are contracts. Not all customers are upstanding people and if they are not being contacted by any means possible they will not pay. If you loaned someone 20+ thousand dollars would you just let it go, lets be real here. Take your contract to the attorney with you.

it doesnt matter that you call and tell them when you're going too pay, you signed the conract saying you would have the payment in on a certain due date rain or shine, you sure werent complaining when chrysler financial fronted you the money for the vehicle, and of course they are going too call anyone the can, its a buisness not a charity, if you loaned someone money, and they agreed too pay you back on a certain date, and then they call in with excuses, and then tell you when they are going too pay, instead of living up too their word, would you take that?

I went to an attorney for the exact same collection practices. I would love to join in on a Class Action Suit.

I have had the same thing happen to me after 4 years of only being one day over 30 days once, I have fallen past due. I had co-signed a truck for my son through them also and he turned it in voluntarily due to medical expenses that his wife incurred during a problem pregnancy. I paid the loan off in cash in august. and fell behind in november myself for the first time. They start calling you when the loan is 10days late before the late charge is due. If you dont return their call within a day they do harrass neighbors and anyone living on the same street with you leaving information they want to talk to you due to past due status of your loan with them and leave their names and numbers. I thought I was deaing with a reputable company. If you hit 30 days they send a repo truck for your vehicle and add the towing fees to your note leaving you 60 days to catch up instead of 30 and have never reported on 2 of the bureaus that my sons account was paid and listed me a co-maker on the loan instead of a co-signer. The bureau they did report it paid to, it had a different company name and a different account number and they made it look like a totally different account. They offer you to downsize and when you decide to do this to find a more economical vehicle they report the incorrect past dues to the dealers that call. This is the second vehicle they have treated the same way in my family!! So its notttt just me or you. They send the wrecker to other towns to look for your vehicle to add charges you will never know are on there leaving you unsure of why you are past due when your records show you arent. It is a shame a company the size of Chrysler Financial has such shady practices.
